Welcome to Magnolianna Art

I believe in the quiet art of persistence. As the pace of the word continues to speed up, I find joy in the slow and deliberate unfolding of creativity.

Through the age-old art forms of fiction writing and painting, I try to capture the essence of genuine authenticity and significance of the previous century.

I experience a deep sense of satisfaction from creating a world shaped by heartfelt dedication where every written word and brushstroke matters.

About Me

Raised in Sweden’s wilderness, I learned to listen to silence and imagine what I couldn’t see. My art reflects the voice of nature through the birds, horses, lore, and wildlife I grew up alongside.

Thanks to the support of my patrons I won an award as Ottawa’s favourite painter of 2020 by Faces Magazine.

I felt honoured when The American Riding Instructor Magazine reached out to me to feature my painting “Let’s Go” on the cover for their winter issue in 2020.

Questions and Answers

Question:

How does your Swedish heritage influence the animals and nature you paint?

Answer:

My childhood in Sweden is fundamental to why I paint. The stillness of growing up surrounded by Swedish forest gave me endless opportunity for contemplation and a well developed imagination.

That timeless atmosphere made Nordic folklore feel vibrant and alive outside my window. I aim to express the sense of mystery creatively in my art through animals by narrative allegories.

Question:

I love horses! How do you capture their personality in your prints?

Answer:

I believe my way to paint horses and the emotions that are conveyed in my art are reflections of my love for them. I put that intensity into each handmade painting, letting the paint be a celebration of the sacred bond between horses and people. Horses were another perk of where I grew up and I have always felt like their energy match my own.

Question:

Do you still take custom commissions for dog or horse portraits?

Answer:

I used to. It was the biggest part of my career for a decade. I cherished the trust that was placed in me and the opportunity to capture portraits of the animal companions of my patrons. Now however, my focus is on my inner voice as it’s calling me to paint intuitive art and adding my love for narrative painting.

Question:

Are these prints high enough quality to show the "soul" of the original painting?

Answer:

Absolutely. I use professional, high-resolution scans (300 DPI) that capture the tiny details and subtle colour changes of the many paint layers which are typical of my paintings.

In a world full of automation and AI imagery, it’s more important than ever for me to retain traces of the human hand and the dedication behind every mark making choice and brush stroke.

Question:

How do you handle shipping from Canada to your US and Swedish fans?

Answer:

I’ve streamlined the process! Whether you’re a Canadian or American with a heart tied to the wild or a nature lover in the Nordic with a connection to the mysterious qualities of nature, be assured that your new art is in the care of professionals. I use qualified shipping partners to ensure your print is produced and shipped with care so it arrives ready to be framed and enjoyed for years to come.
